Bi Rain to 'shower' in Miss Vietnam final

South Korean star Bi-Rain will perform in the final of the 2016 Miss Vietnam beauty contest in August, the pageant organizers revealed Friday.
“Hello, Vietnam! This is Rain. I’ll come to Miss Vietnam 2016,” 33-year-old singer said in a greeting video to Vietnamese audience, aired during a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.
Rain is a Korean pop star entitled in the list of 100 most influential people in the world in 2006 and 2011 by Time magazine. The singer also starred in a K-drama named “Please Come Back, Mister” that aired on SBS from February to April this year.

Thirty beauties who passed the preliminary round in southern region were introduced at yesterday’s press briefing. They will show their grace to advance into the semi-final round in southern region in Hoa Binh Theater, District 10, this Sunday.
The preliminary and final rounds for northern region will be held in Hanoi and Tuan Chau Island in Quang Ninh Province from July 9 to 17, according to the organizing board.
The grand finale of 2016 Miss Vietnam will be organized at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in District 11, Ho Chi Minh City on August 28, according to the organizer, Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper.
The final show will be broadcast live at 8:00 pm on VTV9 channel and ten regional channels with participation of several singers, including Hien Thuc, Thuy Tien, Tuan Hung and Ai Phuong and the local model trio of Truong Nam Thanh, Song Luan, and Tim during the top 30’s bikini performance.
Winner of Miss Vietnam 2016 will be crowned and presented with VND500 million (US$22,435) while the first and second runners-up will receive VND300 million ($13,461) and VND200 million ($8,974), respectively.   
Besides the top three titles, there are also such awards for beauties with the best talent, face, hair, party dress, as well as Miss Humanity and Most Voted Miss.
This year's pageant will include new content and contribute more to the community, with the final round highlighting charity projects of each contestant, according to the organizing board.
The biennial event was initiated in 1988 by Tien Phong not only to improve young women’s role in national development, but also to create opportunities to dignify Vietnam’s cultural potential, traditions and history as well as promoting the country’s image and people among international peers during the integration process.
