Army Reserve commander takes home Miss USA title
Deshauna Barber already listed IT analyst and Army Reserve logistics commander on her resume - now she can add Miss USA.
Barber, representing the District of Columbia, won the crown during Sunday night's pageant. She drew widespread praise for her interview answer to a question about whether opening all military jobs to women was putting political correctness over the military's highest level of performance.
Barber's response: "As a woman in the United States Army, I think it is an amazing job by our government to allow women to integrate into every branch of the military," she said.
"We are just as tough as men. As a commander of my unit I am powerful, I am dedicated and it's important to recognize that gender does not limit us in the United States Army."
First runner-up was Miss Hawaii
