LOOK: Mariel de Leon asks Liza Soberano for a selfie
MANILA – Newly crowned Miss International Philippines Maria Angelica de Leon turned into a fan girl when she came face to face with actress Liza Soberano.
The meeting happened after de Leon and the rest of the Binibining Pilipinas queens appeared on “ASAP” on Sunday to grace the show’s opening.
In an Instagram post, de Leon shared that she waited for Soberano backstage after their number to personally ask for a photo with her.
“She really has one of the most beautiful faces in the Philippines. I really waited for her backstage so I could sneak a quick selfie in,” the daughter of celebrity couple Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong wrote.
Soberano has been considered as one of the most beautiful stars in local showbiz and was even included in a British movie critic's list of "The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2015."
Many pageant observers, including Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach herself, believe that Soberano has what it takes to become the next Miss Universe. The actress, however, said in past interviews that she doesn’t see herself in that path.
“It’s not for me. But natutuwa naman ako na people are telling me that I should join and stuff. Nakaka-touch din naman but it’s really not for me,” she said.
