The former beauty queen told the media on Tuesday that the fashion show was spurred by her experience from the Miss World Pageant and her passion for modeling.
She said with Season Sensations she saw the need to create a platform for models and designers to showcase their art. “Season Sensations is ready to give the country a fashion show of a different kind,” she said.
The young woman from Mmadinare village said they are dedicated to giving back to the community no wonder they have pledged to donate 10% of the proceeds from the event to charity. Mabengano said they have identified a charity programme under the Botswana Council of Women (BCW).
She said they are made to believe success is based on education only. “Talent can make you reach greater heights; every person is a brand,” she highlighted.
Mabengano said they believe in the development and enhancement of skills. She said they plan to have ticketed, knowledge-based conferences where they invite well-known and successful super models and
designers from different leading countries.
For his part, a fashion enthusiast Goitsemang Khutsafalo said Batswana are no longer citizens of this country alone but rather of the whole African continent. He said people tend to limit the fashion industry to just designing of garments only.
Khutsafalo said people should build the fashion industry and invest on it because it has the potential to bring in billions of pula. He said Season Sensations is a great start and applauded Mabengano for taking a bold step towards growing the fashion industry.
“We should align ourselves with current world trends and Batswana can wear something they are proud of,” he highlighted.
The event will have fashion displays by both local and regional designers among others Keno Suits and Kaone Moremong of House of Kay.
Performances on the day include DJ Gouviea, Mophato Dance, DJ Groova T and Bent into Shape, just to mention but a few. The general ticket is sold at P250 while the VIP cost P550 at CompuTickets.
