What Christopher de Leon wants to tell beauty queen daughter
Their beauty queen daughter is clearly the apple of their eyes.
Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong couldn't help but gush over their daughter Mariel, who won the Binibining Pilipinas International crown Sunday night.
Posting a photo of him with a younger Mariel, De Leon wrote on Instagram: "Anak, you have transformed into a beautiful, intelligent, elegant and brave woman."
"This is the most exciting time of my life! To see our Lord GOD's hands moving to where you are right now and taking this as the start of a bright future for you."
"We are so happy and proud of your perseverance and passion to follow your dreams and aspirations. Happy din kami because you are the first beauty queen in our clan."
"Plus, seeing you take on this wonderful breakthrough, which we (nanay and I) have been praying for, come through, there is truly hope which our GOD has promised. Thank you, anak. We love you and congratulations," he added.
Mariel won the title during the Binbining Pilipinas 2017 pageant held at Smart Araneta Coliseum. This was her second try, with the first one in 2013. She finished in the top 15 then.
She is the country's best for back-to-back titles in the next edition of the Miss International pageant. Kylie Verzosa won the title last year.
On her Instagram account, Mariel admitted that she was aiming for the Binibining Pilipinas International crown from the very start.
Sharing a photo of her from the pageant, she said: "This is the night that changed my life. The night the lion came out! It made it even more memorable because I was crowned by Kylie Versoza!"
"Miss International was always the crown I was dreaming of because they represent ethereal beauties who are strong but gentle, compassionate, intelligent, kind, and are willing to take action to change the world. God has answered my prayers. His love is amazing! Thank you, Father!"
