This Year's Miss USA Judges Include a Talk Show Host, Transgender Author, and Former Miss Universe!
May 11, 2017 at 2:36 pm
The 66th Miss USA pageant will be held this Sunday, May 14, in Las Vegas, but before 51 women fight for this year's crown, let's get to know the judges who will be making the tough decisions!
Hamila Aden, the first Miss Minnesota USA contestant to compete in a hijab and burkini, understands the importance of female role models in today's society.
"I grew up not seeing anyone who looked like me on TV, billboards, or in magazines. I never imagined that I could someday become a professional model as there hadn’t been women with my background who paved the way before me," the 19-year-old admitted. "It is important for all women to be trailblazers and to be the change they want to see in this world."

Like Hamila, judge Brook Lee has considerable experience in the pageant world. Not only did she become Miss USA in 1997, but she won the Miss Universe crown soon after.
"I am looking for the woman that is ready to take on the rigorous duties that are required of this job," she shared. "Having done it myself, I know it is more than just pictures and public appearances."

Here Are Our (Not at All) Expert Predictions for Miss USA 2017!
May 11, 2017 at 5:29 pm
Last year's winner will be crowning the Miss USA 2017 on Sunday — and we have a few ideas of who could be walking away with the title.
In a video by PageantLive, former Miss Nebraska USA Natalie Christina McGovern had Miss California and Miss Nevada in her top picks while talent coach Kyle Haggerty has his eye on Miss Florida and Miss Texas.
Miss USA 2016 Deshauna Barber, who represented the District of Columbia, was the first Miss USA to be actively serving in the armed forces — and proved the pageant is not just about women in swimsuits.
"There have been so many situations where people look at you as a woman more than anything and just believe that you're weak," she said. "It's important for us as women to make sure that when we're in the room with men, that we stand our own."
We scoured the Internet for other favorites — and our personal picks — and selected who has a good chance of walking away with the crown, sash, and bragging rights for a whole year.
The Miss USA competition will air May 14 at 8 p.m. Eastern on FOX.
