Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — As the Philippines prepares to host the next Miss Universe pageant, the country's bet Maxine Medina shared how she is preparing for the big event.
The 25-year-old beauty queen said on Wednesday her preparation involves reading the latest news, watching documentaries and inspirational talks, among others.
Medina added her good friend, reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, has been giving her pieces of advice on how to handle the responsibility.
"She's been telling me to be strong and read up about a lot of news and issues, be firm, and just focus on this competition," she said.
Medina also shared how she feels about the Philippines hosting the next pageant.
"I was very excited when I found out it was gonna be in the Philippines," she said.
The Miss Universe 2016 coronation night will be held in the Philippines on January 30, 2017. The Department of Tourism is considering holding the pageant at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. It will be the Philippines’s third time to host the pageant.
