Here's the Surprising Reason Miss Florida USA Just Lost Her Crown
Genesis Davila was dethroned this week.
Just a week after being crowned Miss Florida USA 2017, Genesis Davila has been stripped of her crown.
According to E! Online, Davila lost her title this week because she used professional hair and makeup artists in her private room during the competition, a violation of the pageant's rules. As a result, runner-up Miss Sunny Isles Beach USA Linette De Los Santos has taken her place.
"We have a zero-tolerance policy on rules," Miss Florida USA executive producer Grant Gravitt told Miami's Local 10. "Whether it's something major or minor, it's all about keeping an equal and level playing field. Unfortunately, our title holder sought an unfair competitive advantage, and that's just not acceptable in our system."
"When one steps out of line, it's not fair to the other 64, and I couldn't look at the other 64 in the eye knowing that I had substantial proof to say," he continued. "This is not a good day for either the pageant or this poor lady. We wish her no harm. We wish her no ill-will. She made a bad choice, but she's a very good kid, and we wish her the best in her career."
At this time, Davila has hired a legal team to help fight the decision. But according to Gravitt, the decision will not be reversed.
