Miss America Returns Home to The Natural State

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - When Miss Arkansas won Miss America, quickly it became time to start planning a homecoming.
Savvy Shields will be coming back to the Natural State October 20-22 for a multi city tour.
"It's going to be so extra special for her to come home, we wanted to make this more than just a day's worth of events, something that is going to be so extra special." Kattie Hansen, who is heading the homecoming committee, said.
Events will be hosted from the Governor's Mansion in Little Rock to the Greek Theatre in Fayetteville. Joining Savvy for the tour of Arkansas is the new Miss Arkansas Savannah Skidmore.
"We are good friends, so, it's going to be a blast, just to be there for her all weekend long, to be by her side through it all, it's going to be really cool," Skidmore said.
The homecoming will be more than a simple celebration. It will also be a chance for Miss America and Miss Arkansas to give back to children at Arkansas Children's Hospital.
"I know that the kids will be so excited just to meet her and hopefully we can bring some laughter and bring some smiles and make their day a little better," Skidmore added.
"Miss Arkansas and Miss America... their lives for that year are surrounded by giving and charitable events," Hansen said.
It's a celebration fit for Miss America, but more importantly it's a celebration that could change a community one child at a time.
KARK is partnering with Miss America and hosting "Selfies With Savvy" October 21st from 6-7 a.m. at our station at 1401 West Capitol, Suite 104. For a picture with Miss America, just bring a donation for the Arkansas Children's Hospital.
