An 18-year-old Pittsburgh woman will represent Pennsylvania at next year'sMiss Teen USA Pageant. Sydney Dolanch was crowned Miss PennsylvaniaTeen USA 2016 on Sunday, according to the official pageant website. Madonna Mantione was named first runner-up. Mantione was also named Miss Photogenic and voted Miss Amity. Others finishing in the top five were Alana Andersen, second runner-up; Brooke Calle, third runner-up; and Robin Stoner, fourth runner-up. Other semifinalists were Miranda Beaver, Madison Brown, Elizabeth Evans, Hallie Jacobs, Kayla Root and Hailey States. This year's pageant was held at the Hyatt Regency at the Pittsburgh International Airport.
Dolanch finished in the top five at the 2015 Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA Pageant. If she wins at next year's Miss Teen USA competition, she will become the second contestant from Pennsylvania to wear the national crown. The first was Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA 2000 Jillian Parry. Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA 2015 Jasmine Daniels finished in the top 15 at last year's finals.
The Miss Teen USA Pageant is owned by the Miss Universe Organization, which also owns the Miss USA competition. In recent years, the teen pageant has been held during the summer and made available live on the Miss Teen USA website.
Contestants are ages 14-18 years. They are judged in the category of personal interviews, evening gown and swimsuit. The winning contestant makes a variety of appearances on behalf of charities and other causes during her one-year-reign. Events are coordinated to minimize the impact on family and educational goals.
