Which ex-beauty queen helped Pia Wurtzbach prepare for the crown
Aces and Queens pageant coach and fashion designer Bessie Besana said one of the advantages Pia Wurtzbach had over the other contestants were the "sisters" who gave her tips on what goes on in the Miss Universe pageant.
In particular, a certain University of Santo Tomas graduate who almost bagged the crown proved to be indispensable.
Besana said that when Wurtzbach asked him about the ins-and-outs of the pageant, he advised her to ask people with first hand experience.
"She asked Janine Tugonon," Besana said, "And Janine gave her a blow-by-blow account."
Tugonon, first runner up in 2012, told Wurtzbach what to expect—from shoe fitting to how the final night goes. Besana said that this prepared Wurtzbach psychologically and allowed her to somehow breeze through the pageant.
Besana and Mercator Artist and Model Management Inc. president Jonas Gaffud were in agreement that the candidates go through a very rigorous training for the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, which makes the international pageant feel easier.
After winning the crown, Wurtzbach and Tugonon had a reunion in San Francisco, where the Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up is currently pursuing a modelling career. — APG/JST, GMA News
