Single Emily has just been crowned Miss Bristol, a year after winning the Miss Somerset crown.
It is a long way from her schooldays when she was bullied for her looks and nicknamed 'Harry Potter' because of her glasses.
Emily entered Miss Somerset competition 'on a whim' after spotting an advert in a magazine.
She said: 'I never thought it would come to anything, I didn't expect I'd get this far. But now it's like a bug - I'm addicted.

'People think that it's just walking around in a bikini, but it really isn't. 'It's very hard work. It involves fitness, fundraising and talent competitions amongst other things.
'My friends just think it's me all over, really. I'm a very determined person, very hard-working.' Emily grew up in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset and always wanted to be involved in education.
After studying Modern Languages and History at Exeter University she became a teacher in a Churchfield Church School in Highbridge, Somerset.

Emily said she has encountered negative attitudes towards the pageant with people accusing her of hypocrisy, due to the focus on beauty rather than education.
She said: 'Someone recently said to me "how does someone that looks like you get into Oxford?" 'I thought that was pretty unbelievable.
'I just told them I attached a photo to my application.' She wrote on her website: 'I feel very strongly that the Miss England competition coincides with my personal and professional values as a teacher, widening aspirations, making a difference and developing the "whole" individual.'
Emily is also vice chair for a charity raising awareness about suicide and mental health.
'In Charlie's Memory' was founded in memory of school friend Charley Marks who took his life at the age of 18 after suffering from OCD, anxiety and depression for four years.
Emily offers her teaching services to the charity by providing mental health education around the south west. The Miss England finals take place in Southport in July.
