Meet police officer beauty queen who can 'talk any criminal down'

A POLICE officer who has criminals dreaming of handcuffs has been declared the winner of a top US beauty pageant.

Shannon Dresser swapped her beat uniform for a ballroom gown to be crowned Miss Texas 2017.
The stunning blonde revealed being a beauty queen and a PC had drawn a lot of unwanted comments and stereotypes in both industries.
But Shannon believes she has used both roles in tandem to her advantage, and can now talk anyone out of a bad situation.

She said: "You train for the unexpected. You train for the worst and hope for the best in any situation. Talking to people. I can talk to anyone, talk people down."
Her pageant persona is far removed from her persona on the beat, Shannon said.
Students at Katy Independent School in Texas, where Shannon works, simply know her as Officer Dresser, and had no idea about her other life.

Montpellier's Ryad Boudebouz stunned by beauty queen

She said: "When they know me as Officer Dresser and they see me out there sweating and running and taking care of everything that when they find out I have an outside part of me that's really girly, they're usually blown away."
Shannon is involved in multiple programmes to help mentor young people and bridge the gap between police and the public.
She also teaches students to be true to themselves to achieve what they want in life.
