It has been confirmed that Steve Harveyhas signed a contract to host the #Miss Universe pageant once again. The well-known event will be held on January 30, 2017 in the Philippines. Harvey made news worldwide last year when he hosted the pageant for the first time. He made a big mistake by initially announcing Miss Colombia as the winner when actually the winner was Miss Philippines. Seconds later Harvey corrected his mistake and apologized to Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines and Ariadna Gutierrez from Colombia. That didn't keep people from talking about the blunder for many months to come.

Second chance for Harvey

After Harvey made the national mistakeduring the 2015 event that was held in Las Vegas, President Rodrigo Duterteinitially disapproved of the comedian hosting again. Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo confirmed Harvey's hosting gig and said it had been approved by Duterte. Also, it was once a discussion about whether the pageant should be held in the Philippines. Teo said the decision to host the event would be a great opportunity to showcase the wonders of the Philippines to the international community. Also, it would be an honor for the reigning Miss Universe to crown the new winner in her own country. Three Miss Universe winners have been from the Philippines, including Gloria Diaz in 1969, Margarita Moran in 1973, and Pia Wurtzbach in 2015. If a fourth winner comes from the Philippines, she will be crowned in her own country.

Third time for pageant

The Department of Tourism announced on Thursday that the next Miss Universe pageant will be held in the Philippines at the Mall of Asia Arena. This will be the third time for the Philippines to host the pageant. The other two times were in 1974 and 1994. Contestants will begin arriving in Manila 17 days before the actual pageant. They will be taken on tours around Bicol, Cebu, Davao, Palawan, and Vigan. Performers will more than likely include some of the Philippines' own #Celebrities. However, performers have not been announced yet. People should know that sponsors of the event will pay the estimated $11 million, and no government money will be used. #Steve Harvey
