MOA to be transformed into Miss Universe village

The SM Mall of Asia Arena has been chosen as the official venue for the grand coronation night of the Miss Universe pageant on January 30, 2017.
Aside from hosting the coronation night, SM MOA itself will showcase an array of activities to being the whole Miss Universe experience to the Filipino people and the entire world.
The sprawling seaside mall complex in Pasay City will be transformed into a virtual Miss Universe village as it becomes the venue for events leading up to the grand coronation night.
It will host the Governor’s Ball, National Gift Auction, National Costume, the Fashion Show, the Designer Showcase and After Party among others, all of which are designed to provide the Filipino people and the rest of humanity an unforgettable Miss Universe experience.
At the coronation night on January 30, SM MOA promises to provide viewers with a rare display of beauty, talent and wit all within an arm’s reach.
SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. (SMLEI) says the hosting of the Miss Universe pageant is a most-awaited international event.
“SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc. is proud to be a partner of the much-awaited Miss Universe 2017,” said SMLEI president Edgar Tejerero. “We are glad to bring one of the world’s most sought-after events closer to Filipinos.”
Arnel Gonzales, MOA assistant vice president, said the arena has been specifically chosen for the Miss Universe pageant because it has hosted many global events that showcased the country’s hospitality and culture.
He said it has been home to the world’s biggest international events, like the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and the Papal visit.
Known for its amenities of international standards, MOA Arena had housed entertainment acts in the caliber of Madonna, WWE Live, and Cirque Du Soleil.
It has been transformed into a premiere sports venue bringing in the biggest athletes from basketball (NBA, FIBA), MMA (UFC, OneFC) and volleyball (FIVB) to tennis (IPTL) and even monster trucks (Monster Jam.)
Next month, MOA Arena will be transformed into a gigantic ice rink for The Wonderful World of Disney on Ice and, soon after, into the prestigious stage of the 2017 Miss Universe.
