TWENTY-four Miss Universe candidates will be treated to an early glimpse of the Baguio Flower Festival, featuring a float parade and street dancing during their visit.
Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) and Baguio Country Club (BCC) General Manager Anthony De Leon confirmed the 24 beauties will be treated to a display of street dancing from schools and universities and will also showcase four floats during a parade.
One float will be dedicated to reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach while the three other floats will carry eight candidates, each starting at the BFF park going towards the Baguio Country Club on the second week of January.
Wurtzbach will lead the contingent of 24 Miss Universe candidates next year for the anticipated visit.
The private sector has secured the city of a spot in hosting international beauties after talks with the DOT as well as the Miss Universe pageant organizers proved successful.
The visit is expected to give the candidates a glimpse of highland culture, historical sites as well as hospitality and international exposure to the highlands.
Miss Universe candidates will be flown in and out of the city via the Loakan airport and will be toured at the Philippine Military Academy, the Mansion and other key areas in the Summer Capital.
PMA information chief Reynaldo Balido Jr. said the PMA will be ready to host the candidates with a silent drill exhibition as well as a 24-man cadet escort during their stay.
The HRAB leads private tourism stakeholders who will contribute to the P15 million needed to host the international contingent to be given to the Miss Universe organizers.
