Makiah Huebner, daughter of Terri (David) Drenth of Chelsea and Douglas Huebner of Midland, and grandchild of Carol Huebner of Midland and Dell and Roger Day of Midland, has earned the title of 2016 National American Miss Michigan through her successfully scored events.
She will be attending the National Pageant in Anaheim, California, at Disneyland during Thanksgiving week, representing Michigan, where she will have the opportunity to win a share of more than $500,000 in cash and prizes as well as the National Title.
The National American Miss (NAM) Pageants are for “Today’s Girl” and “Tomorrow’s Leaders.” The pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation and offers an “All American Spirit” of fun for family and friends. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition and setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future and be involved in her community through volunteer work. Huebner has been volunteering with the American Heart Association for four years in memory of her Aunt Nikkole who died of a heart attack in October 2011.
Huebner’s activities and awards include being the 2015 Miss Michigan Teen for National American Miss as well as enjoying her third year with the Central Michigan University Pom Team. She is a graduate of H.H. Dow High School where she spent four years on the Dow High Pom Team and graduated in 2014. She now resides in Chelsea when not at school and hopes to complete her degree in early education. She has been involved with NAM for five years and has held state titles of Most Promising Model, Michigan’s Top Model, Casual Wear Modeling and Photogenic and last year took home a national runner up title in the Actress competition.
