Laura Lauti crowned Miss Heilala 2016

Miss Loumaile Lodge, Laura Lauti (20) was crowned as Tonga’s new Miss Heilala 2016 early this morning Saturday 9 July, at the Miss Heilala Ball held at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.
During the week's judging events Laura won the island creation, talent and tau'olunga competitions. She also won the prize for the best tau'olunga costume.
Laura was born and raised in Oakland, California and her family comes from Ha'afeva, Pangaimotu, Tatakamotonga, Pangai and Ha'ano in Ha'apai.
She told Matangi Tonga Online that she aims to continue her studies in business in Los Angeles this year. In addition, she is assigned to a modelling agency based in New York and LA.
After the crowning her ecstatic family and her uncle Ngungutau raised the new Miss Heilala up on his shoulders as she greeted a cheering crowd.
Hon Lupepau'u Tuita Taione and Miss Heilala 2015 Brittne Fuimaono crowned the new Miss Heilala.
The first runner up was Miss Bou's Fashion Vika Toetu'u from Utah, USA.
The second runner up was Miss Five Star Finances 'Ofa Hui, a local contestant currrently working at the Retiremement Fund.
Miss Popularity was Miss Tongatapu 2, Sosefina Fatai Leger.
The Miss Heilala Ball which concluded the annual pageant attracted a full house with the 10 contestants beautifully dressed in their evening gowns.
Also attending the evening was the Prime Minister Hon 'Akilisi Pohiva, Speaker of Parliament Lord Tu'ivakano, Minister of Tourism Hon Semisi Sika and other Cabinet Ministers.
