EM woman wins Miss Illinois title

Jaryn Franklin, of East Moline, is heading to the Miss America competition in September after winning the title of Miss Illinois on June 18 in Marion, Ill.
According to a news release, Ms. Franklin, who held the title of 2016 Miss Blackhawk Valley, spent the last seven months preparing for the state competition. For her talent she performed sang “Dream a Little Dream of Me.” Her platform is “Special People Special Ways — Advocating for the Disabled.”
Other winners on Saturday were Amelia Mugavero, of Champaign, first runner-up; Janna Harner, of Anna, second runner-up; Michela Moe, of Lombard, third runner-up; and Kristen One, of Vernon Hills, fourth runner-up.
Each winner takes home a scholarship award and several other prizes made possible by donors to the Miss Illinois Scholarship Organization.
