Miss Kansas visits West Ridge Mall for Caring Santa event

After being crowned just last weekend as Miss Kansas, Victoria Wiggins, spent her Sunday morning visiting children with disabilities at the West Ridge Mall.
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- After being crowned just last weekend as Miss Kansas, 25-year-old Victoria Wiggins of Junction City, spent her Sunday morning visiting children with disabilities at the West Ridge Mall.
Wiggins was at the mall for the Caring Santa event that went from 9 a.m. to noon. The event gives children with disabilities a chance to meet Santa in a safe and quiet environment.
"It's just nice because we do it with our center being closed so they do have that quiet environment. They don't have to stand in the long lines, because it can be difficult for those kids to have to stand in line for an hour," said West Ridge Mall Marketing and Communication Dir. Melissa Buescher.
This was one of Wiggins' very first public appearances as Miss Kansas 2016. She was just crowned one week ago, and was very excited to spend her morning with the children.
"I was really happy to be here, to be that buffer between them and Santa. I was afraid of Santa when I was little, and I can just imagine crying there, so I'm very happy that I was able to help the little kids smile and be excited about him," said Wiggins.
Wiggins will be traveling all over Kansas and start her training for the Miss America Pageant.
The West Ridge Mall will also be hosting pictures Santa and your pets from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13.
