Natasha Martinez will step down Sunday as the reigning Miss California USA, but she continues to take steps upward in her career. She began her Friday with an early-morning interview with Fox 5 Live. She then traveled to shoot her first commercial for Nissan. Then, it was time to go to Long Beach to meet with this year's Miss California USA contestants and record a farewell speech for Sunday's pageant.
"I can hardly believe that what I'm experiencing is real life," she wrote later on Facebook. "If you would have told me a year ago when I was checking in to Miss California USA that my life would change and I would get to experience everything I could have ever dreamed of, I probably wouldn't have believed you."
A native of Chino Hills, Martinez was graduated from Chapman University with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. She had been a Laker Girl and is a former parade character at Disneyland. She has since worked for KDOC-TV in Los Angeles.
