Saying that there is a “huge possibility” that the Miss Universe 2016 pageant will be held in the Philippines, reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is now crowdsourcing for places where she will take the candidates once they set foot in the country.
In a Facebook Live video on Thursday, Wurtzbach said that if the country will be the official host of the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, the coronation night will be held in Manila.
“You know, since we have that huge possibility of hosting the pageant here, where do you guys think should I take the girls?” Wurtzbach said.
The destinations that were on the top of her mind include Boracay, Cebu, Palawan, Davao, Cagayan de Oro City, Vigan, Bacolod City, and Bohol.
She also said that she is excited to see the contestants try different Filipino dishes such as adobo, pancit, and kare-kare.
Wurtzbach met with President Rodrigo Duterte last July 18 to discuss the possibility of hosting the Miss Universe 2016 pageant in the country.
“We talked about hosting the pageant here. Everything looks good and we’re just trying to polish a few things and we’re almost there. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly and our dream of having the pageant here is gonna push through,” the Filipina beauty queen said.
“It’s going to be a great way to promote tourism and to showcase the different islands, places, tourist destinations here in the Philippines. And I think it’s about time,” Wurtzbach added.
Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo said that Duterte has approved the proposal for the Philippines to stage the pageant “in principle.”
