Queenslander Madeline Cowe crowned Miss World Australia 2016

NEWLY crowned Miss World Australia, Madeline Cowe, is ready to be a role model.

Cowe, 23, from Tully in Queensland, was runner up in the Miss Universe Australia pageant last year before winning the Miss World Australia title.

“It is kind of like you are a role model now and it opens so many doors. It is definitely a life changing opportunity,’’ the law student said.

“It feels amazing. I have done (pageants) before and I absolutely love them. You meet so many new people and learn so many new things.’’

Cowe endured an awkward moment as she was crowned by Miss World Australia 2015 Tess Alexander in Melbourne on Friday night.

“Tess put the crown on my head as the confetti cannon went off and she kind of jumped and the crown slipped, but luckily we caught it,’’ she said.
