PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Miss RI, Theresa Agonia, packed her bags, said goodbye to friends and left for Las Vegas Tuesday to compete for the Miss U.S.A. title.
Agonia, 24, of Central Falls, hopes to take the crown and win it all.  In a phone interview, she said she is excited to get started rehearsing with the other contestants.
“I am really excited, and I am going to meet some amazing girls along the way!  I am currently hanging out with Miss Delaware and so it is going to be an amazing experience with some pretty amazing individuals,” said Agonia.
Agonia told ABC-6 News she has been working with a personal trainer and eating healthy, training mentally and physically for the competition.
Miss RI’s platform is geared toward pancreatic cancer research in honor of her father who fell victim to the disease.
The Miss U.S.A. pageant is on June 5th in Las Vegas.
